Atlanta City Council Member Jason S. Dozier Celebrates Investment from Rocket Community Fund to HouseProud in Support of District 4 Seniors
ATLANTA, MAY 30, 2023 — Council member Jason S. Dozier recently joined with local nonprofit HouseProud Atlanta Inc. to celebrate a $100,000 contribution from the Rocket Community Fund to assist with home repairs for District 4 seniors. This contribution is in addition to a donation of $50,000 made by Dozier earlier in the year.
“These additional funds from Rocket will play a vital role in assisting seniors with home repairs,” Dozier said. “Many of our seniors are on fixed incomes, which makes it difficult to afford home maintenance like this. This will help in lowering those costs and help to improve accessibility for our residents.”
The Rocket Community Fund is the philanthropic partner of Rocket Companies, which includes Rocket Mortgage, one of the nation’s largest home lenders. In February, HouseProud Atlanta received $50,000 from Dozier with the aim of addressing a backlog of requests for home repair assistance in the community. This funding stemmed from the Council’s approval of legislation making the donation in November 2022 (22-O-1832).
“A stable home is the foundation for success in every element of our lives,” said Laura Grannemann, Executive Director of the Rocket Community Fund. “Last year, the Rocket Community Fund launched Neighbor to Neighbor – a partnership that goes door-to-door to help Atlanta residents connect with housing resources. From that outreach, we learned that home repair resources constitute one of the most significant gaps in the Atlanta market. We are proud to expand our investment and collaboration in Atlanta as we partner with HouseProud Atlanta Inc. and Council member Dozier to provide home repair assistance to seniors in District 4 and beyond.”
In the community, HouseProud helps low-income seniors, veterans, and disabled Atlanta homeowners make repairs to their homes. The type of assistance includes painting, siding repair, handrail installation, drywall replacement, heating and cooling upgrades, electrical repairs, and plumbing repair and replacement. The Rocket Community Fund was founded by Rocket Companies to simplify complex and inequitable systems and ensure that every American has access to stable, healthy housing. It also invests in people and practices that provide meaningful opportunities for education and employment. Through its “For-More-Than-Profit” model, the Rocket Community Fund recognizes that business and community are inextricably linked, and it purposefully harnesses team member talent, technology, policy advocacy, and philanthropic resources to invest in comprehensive community development in cities across the country. Alongside financial investments, the Rocket Community Fund has organized Rocket Companies, Bedrock, and other affiliated team members to provide more than 865,000 volunteer hours nationwide.
