We kept the vibes warm and cozy during a snowy day in February when we celebrated our Rocket Community Champions* – the team members who go above and beyond to support our communities. While the vast majority of our team members volunteer or participate in fundraising, there are some who take their support to the next level. These are our Community Champions: rockstar volunteers and super fundraisers who inspire their teammates to get involved. This year, we celebrated our Community Champions recipients at a fun event held at our Detroit headquarters, where honorees enjoyed food, music and fun activities in a cozy atmosphere. It was our way of saying “thank you” to the team members who truly champion our communities. “We are so grateful to our Community Champions, who live their dedication to making a difference every day,” said Bryan Beran-Miceli, Sr. Director of Volunteer Engagement and Giving at the Rocket Community Fund. “Their efforts have a ripple effect on their teammates and our organization – not to mention the health and resilience of our communities.” (Watch the video of the celebration, below).
Powered by purpose and leading by example
To say Rocket team members are passionate about the communities we serve would be an understatement. These aren’t just nice words – the proof is in our impact. In 2023, we reached 1,000,000 volunteer hours nationwide. In 2024, we raised over $1.6M during the Community Challenge, our annual team member-driven crowdfunding campaign benefitting nonprofits across the country. This was our second-highest amount raised in the campaign’s history. With this track record perhaps it’s unsurprising that we broke another engagement record in 2024: 77% of our team members participated in volunteering or giving opportunities, which is more than double the corporate average of 30%.
Our Community Champions play an important role in driving up that engagement, and we believe they deserve to be celebrated. Each year, we ask our 15,000 team members to nominate the teammates and leaders who exceed expectations and lead by example, consistently showing up for the causes they care about and inspiring others around them. In all, 344 Rocket team members were recognized for their extraordinary efforts in volunteering and giving.
“It’s an Honor to be recognized with so many other amazing Rocket team members,” said Rocket team member Pamela Alford, one of our 2024 Community Champions. “I appreciate all the opportunities Rocket provides for us to be able to make a positive impact in our community.” Check out the 2024 Community Champions, below.
