A major focus for our team at the Rocket Community Fund is driving systemic change through targeted investments focused on economic mobility. This includes the meaningful work led by our Education and Employment team, who are focused on both bridging the digital divide and creating new career opportunities for Detroit residents through education and job training.
One of our most important partners in this space is Urban Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides youth in underserved communities with access to career training, skill-building, coaching and real-life work experience through paid internships. We brought Urban Alliance’s flagship program to Detroit in 2018 along with other partners, and Rocket Companies serves as the anchor employer for Detroit Urban Alliance interns. This partnership is critical to building a brighter future for Detroit youth. “As we think about the long-term investment into local Detroit talent, it’s important for us to invite student learners to come into our space and create an opportunity for them to intern with Rocket Companies,” said Jonathan Pulley, Program Manager, Career Education at the Rocket Community Fund. “An opportunity like this gives these students an edge in their career field and solidifies their career goals. This is especially helpful as some students who don’t have this exposure might not be able to make an informed decision about their plans after high school.”
Recently, Urban Alliance kicked off their 2023 internship program and we were there to welcome new interns into the experience. This year, Rocket Companies sponsored 25 students who are interning in various business areas including Technology, Client Communications, Government Affairs, and more.
